Bentley Details Mulsanne Painting Process Insight

Bentley has released a new video featuring the production process of the Bentley Mulsanne. The 3m 20s video focuses on transitioning the car's body-in-white to a fully painted vehicle.

New customers will be able to choose from at least 115 different colors for their luxury car, though more are possible with the company's "unlimited palette." 28 of these were created exclusively for the Mulsanne. The car gets six different layers of paint, including three for the top coat, and two coats of lacquer. Satin finishes, and two-tone versions will be possible.

While the footage is not the most [...]

Bentley Mulsanne Press Launch Video

Bentley has released a new promotional video for the range-topping Mulsanne luxury sedan.

Declaring they are "the opposite of mass production," Bentley says it takes more than two months to build a Mulsanne because more than 50% of the car involves handcraftsmanship. This leads to a lot of individual choices as Bentley offers 24 hides and 28 different exterior paint colors (114 with the 'extended range').

While Bentley has been mum on details, the company has recently confirmed the Mulsanne will be powered by a 6.75-liter V8 engine with 505 bhp and 1020 Nm of torque. The engine features cam phasing, variable [...]

Mystery Bentley Bio-Fuel Supercar Heads to Geneva

The 2009 International Geneva Motor Show in March will see the unveiling of a new supercar from Bentley. The British automaker did not release any details other than that the mystery vehicle will run on bio-fuel and that it will be "its fastest and most powerful production car ever." For the record, the teaser press shot that accompanied the release seem to point towards a car based on the Continental family - either the coupe or the sedan. Stay tuned on Cars-Spot as we'll have more information on Bentley's supercar as [...]

Hamann Release First Images of Bentley Continental GT & GT Speed Performance Upgrades

Hamann, the developer / tuner, is foraging in territories previously unknown to it. Famous for enhancing performance machines from the likes of BMW, Porsche and Lamborghini, Hamann has on the odd occasion, branched off into Mercedes McLaren and Aston Martin.

Soon Bentley will join this list of Hamann-tuned cars with a Continental GT Speed. The GT Speed isn't exactly short on spark, having been bombarded with a 600hp / 447kW Volkswagen Group W12 engine at factory level in Crew, England. No doubt Hamann has the know-how; the McLaren SLR they tuned went from similar levels of go as the GT Speed [...]

Bentley Continental GTC Offroad in Sand Dunes Video

We would never have thought to use a supercar sedan for a romp among the sand dunes, but in this video you will find the off-road qualities of the Bentley Continental GTC clearly on display. The Bentley in the sand dunes doesn’t appear to have too much difficulty, though it’s a rather strange way to enjoy a cabriolet that costs 210,000 euros.

Bentley Waves Goodbye to Arnage with Final Series

Ever since its debut in 1998, the Bentley Arnage has enjoyed a decade of success, but as they say – all good things must come to an end. So rather than let the model fade away into the history books, Bentley have created the “Final Series” which will have an exclusive run of 150 units before bringing the Arnage production to a close.

The power obsessed rich folk who manage to get their hands on one of these models will be treated to the 500bhp twin-turbo 6.75-liter V8 engine from the Arnage T model [...]

ASI Tunes the 2009 Bentley Continental GTC

While most vehicles leaving the Crewe factory in England are bound to spend their whole life without any sort of customizations, there are some owners who wouldn’t mind jazzing up their Bentley. One of the few tuners that specialize purely on Bentley cars is a Japanese firm called ASI which stands for “Accuracy Spirit Imagination”. ASI’s latest proposition concerns a full bodykit for the drop top Continental GTC. The package comprises a front bumper spoiler with a carbon fiber lip and LED daytime lights, side skirts, a rear bumper [...]

Bentley Recalls 13.420 Vehicles Because of Fire Risks

More than 13,400 Continental GT, GT Speed, GTC and Flying-Spur, manufactured from 2004 to 2008 will be recalled over the coming days, due to a manufacturing defect in the fuel filters, sensitive to the salt distributed on roads in winter. The external surface of the filter could corrode, releasing excess amounts of petrol. With a spark or over heating, a fire could ensue, or even an explosion of the vehicle itself. Perhaps a small consolation to Ferrari owners, not the only ones to have cars recalled. [...]

Bentley Continental Flying Spur by RENNtech

When RENNtech announced moving into the tuning realm of Bentley, they quickly had their hands slapped for taking a copyrighted image from our friends over at Autoblog.com and reworking the image which was sent out in their press kit. Now, they have learned their lesson and taken Autoblog's advice with a set of their own photos with their own Flying Spur. So far, the only product available is an ECU module upgrade for the Bentley 6.0-liter W12 twin turbo engine. Power is increased from 552hp to 625hp. [...]

Bentley Designs New Bond Book Devil May Care

Taking into account that knowledge equals power, investing in a book is always a good option. Whether you should be paying GBP 750 (Euro 940, USD 1,450) is questionable though, even if it was designed by Bentley Motors, is limited to 300 copies and a model pewter Bentley R Type which was described in Thunderball and James Bond called 'the locomotive'.

Now for the question on most people's lips, why Bentley? Didn't James Bond drive Aston Martins mostly? James Bond's preference of car lay with Bentley historically and he even owned three Bentleys during the first 14 original novels written by [...]
