American tuners SpeedFactory claim to have set a new record with the SpeedFactory 426 Charger. The car sprinted to the quarter-mile mark at the South Georgia Motorsports Park in 9.453 seconds at 145.38 mph.

The company claims this time to be the fastest ever for a car riding on a Chrysler-built LX/LC platform, including the recently-produced Chrysler 300Cs, Dodge Challenger, Charger, or Magnum.

Based on a 2006 Charger, the tuner car uses a 426 HEMI with V7 YSI supercharger increasing power to 900 horsepower. With no interior, the car weighs about 3,750 lbs (1700 kg).

Based on the Viper ACR, the ACR-X is a track-only race car designed to compete in the Viper Racing League, the Sports Car Club of America, and the National Auto Sport Association.

Power comes from an 8.4-liter V10 engine that produces 640 horsepower (40 hp more than the standard model). Dodge Viper ACR: 642 CV and 813 Nm

The Dodge Viper doesn’t have ‘just’ 600hp, as the manufacturer has officially declared, but actually a good 642, as revealed by a dynograph test from Dragtimes. The experiment shows that the Dodge Viper could challenge the Corvette ZR1 as America’s fastest and most powerful car. As the guys at Jalopnik say, only a head-to-head test run of the Dodge and Corvette will find out…

2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Roadster to Make a Splash at SEMA

We told you that this year's SEMA motorshow will be packed with Challengers -and apparently with Camaros also, but that's another story. Joining the two SEMA show 2009 Dodge Challenger Convertibles from Coach Builders Limited and Newport Convertible Engineering is a third topless version, from Group Five Limited. But unlike the two other proposals, Group Five's Challenger concept is a roadster or better yet, a speedster. And as such, it features a chopped windscreen and seats only for two with the rear passenger area being hidden by a tonneau cover. -Continued

Jay Leno Shows Off His New 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

A couple of days ago Jay Leno, along with Craig Jackson, picked up his black-on-black 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 at Big Valley Dodge.

Check out Leno’s coverage of his trip to the dealership to pick up his no.4 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 in the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. We have to say Leno is one lucky guy to be owning the collection of cars he has in his garage. Lucky enough to go pick up his new HEMI in his old HEMI.

“It handles very nicely. I would put this right up there with the German stuff.

The Viper, which is produced at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant, has been one of Chrysler’s most iconic sports cars since its launch in 1991 when the car was first produced by Chrysler as a modern take on the classic American muscle car. Over the years a [...]

2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 official details

After months of leaked images and drip-fed teasers Chrysler has finally released full details for its all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 muscle car. The new model will be making its world debut this week at the Chicago Auto Show but it has actually been on sale since December of last year. The Challenger is the fourth vehicle to ride on Chrysler’s LX platform, succeeding the 300C, the Charger and the ill-fated Magnum, but unlike its siblings each SRT8 variant will come with a unique numbered dash plaque, carbon hood stripes, forged aluminum 20in alloys, and the SRT prepped 6.1L HEMI [...]

Dodge ZEO concept let loose at NAIAS

As petroleum prices skyrocket and hydrogen fuel-cells remain in the semi-distant future, more and more auto makers are turning to the electric vehicle as the solution for the present. The futuristic styling aside, the Dodge ZEO presents a decent argument for the practical possibilities of an EV. Not that those futuristic looks are in any way out of place or unwelcome - Dodge’s new EV is rather sexy.

The 2+2 mates practicality with electro-hot-rod tendencies, such as the 23-inch rims, the muscular fender swells and the powerful 200kW (268hp) electric motor - the same one powering the hydrogen fuel-cell ecoVoyager concept. [...]

Dodge Zeo Hybrid Concept to Star at Detroit

Dodge are to debut a sport wagon hybrid concept dubbed the 'Zeo' as part of Chrysler's 'clean-running' and 'excitingly-styled' concept vehicle trio set for Detroit in January. Starring alongside equally-green Chrysler and Jeep concept cars, the Zeo is a four-door four-seater 'wagon' - but in two-plus-two coupe guise.

Familiarity extends only to the Dodge grille and flared arches, with its albeit sport-designated 'wagon' label only adding to confusion. Described as a four-passenger four-door with a 2+2 arrangement, suicide rear doors perhaps similar to the gullwing doors of automotive past are a likely feature judging by these official sketches.

Advanced technology is used [...]
