The Ferrari 458 Italia is proving to be a hot commodity - quite literally.

In the past three months, ten vehicles have caught on fire. While six were involved in accidents that could have started the fire, three others have burst into flames for no apparent reason. The tenth vehicle was destroyed in a warehouse fire, but it remains unclear if the car started the blaze.

Speaking with the Telegraph, a Ferrari spokesperson stated "We are taking all the reports very seriously and are looking into them but we are treating them all as separate incidents."

Here's an eight-second video of a Ferrari test mule caught streaking down the street right on Ferrari's front doorstep.

This video was shot in Maranello, Italy right outside the company's factory, and what we hear may be the sound of a V12 and a double-clutch gearbox. But who knows, they could be playing with the acoustics too to throw us off the scent.

Visually, it's heavily camouflaged and comes with a long beak, which could indicate a front-mounted engine. The mule has got headlights borrowed from a 458 Italia and a 599 Fiorano rear glass.

An all Italian dream car challenge between the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Gallardo FP550-2 Valentino Balboni. The latest jewel from the Prancing Horse with its 4.5 V8 engine with 570 hp against the 5.2 V10 550V of the Charging Bull.

Performance wise the 458 Italia beats the the small super car from Sant’Agata Bolognese: top speed 325 km/h and from 0-100 in 3,4 seconds against 320 km/h and 3,9 seconds for the Gallardo.

Sent over by Señor Chris Harris from EVO were these tasty videos featuring an "unauthorized comparo" between Ferrari's 458 Italia and Porsche's GT3 RS. According to Mr. Harris, "I'm probably banned from Maranello for life. Hey-ho. At least I got to rinse a 458 and a GT3 RS."

This video explains how the Ferrari hybrid technology works on the 599 Vettura Laboratorio Hy-Kers. The base model Ferrari is the 599 GTB Fiorano, which now houses both a traditional fuel engine and an electric motor system. The 599 GTB Hybrid will form the basis of all future Ferrari hybrid models.

The Hy-Kers system includes a number of elements which are succinctly displayed in this video. As we already know, the electric motor is placed in the rear of the vehicle and produces 100 hp on its own. Regenerative braking recharges the lithium ion batteries, which are placed in the floor [...]

According to Ferrari’s chairman Luca di Montezemolo, the Italian supercar maker wants to offer hybrid versions across its entire lineup within the next three to four years.

“This is a first step of a long project and we want within three years, maximum four, to have a hybrid Ferrari car ready for every single product of our range. This is our goal,” Montezemolo said to reporters. “In three years we aim to cut emissions by a minimum of 35 percent.”

We don't know the driver's affiliation is with the dealer that brought this spanking new Ferrari 548 Italia to the Netherlands - maybe he's a client, perhaps he's a salesperson or even the owner - but case is that Youtube member 'Jorie 2' spotted the Italian supercar at Kroymans (Ferrari/Aston Martin/Maserati) in Hilversum and decided to follow and film the Prancing Horse model on the road. Yep, it's another exotic supercar crash. Just a few days after the Bugatti Veyron lake incident, a new video featuring an overconfident, but apparently not so talented, driver in a Ferrari California has surfaced online. The video, which appears to have been filmed with a cell phone or a digital camera, shows two drivers, both in Ferrari Californias, fooling around on the city roads of Sofia, in Bulgaria.

However, some lucky folks were invited to Ferrari’s world-premiere of its new supercar in Maranello earlier this week. In the video you’ll see the 458 Italia along with Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and Michael Schumacher.

Refresher: Power comes from a mid-rear mounted 4.5L V8 producing 570-hp at 9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Mated to a dual-clutch 7-speed F1 gearbox, 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of over 202 mph.

Love it or hate, it seems most WCF readers cannot get enough of the F458 Italia - neither can we. Here is the first video (amateur) of substance that we have seen of the F458 in motion. Although still camouflaged, we see a somewhat steady panning shot as the F458 rumbles down the road as well as a close up before entering the gates of Maranello HQ.
