Mitsubishi Fits SST Dual-Clutch Gearbox to Outlander SUV
Already heralded as one of the first high-performance dual-clutch gearboxes to be put into an affordable car, Mitsubishi’s Sport Shift Transmission (SST) will also see use in the company’s Outlander SUV. This is the first implementation of a dual-clutch gearbox in an SUV and is another step towards the eventual demise of the torque-converter based automatic transmission.
Advantages of dual-clutch technology over both traditional automatic and manual transmissions are numerous. Lightning quick shifts, smooth power delivery and high mechanical efficiency along with ease-of-use in automatic or manual mode combine in the SST to bring the very best of both worlds without [...]
Final Mitsubishi 380 Finds Home (AU)
Following the announcement of the closure of Mitsubishi’s Tonsley Park manufacturing plant in Australia, Mitsubishi’s final 380 saloon has rolled of the production line into the history books. This marks the end of a 44 year manufacturing history for the Tonsley park plant in South Australia. Mitsubishi took over the plant in 1980 from Chrysler and has since produced over 1.1million vehicles mainly for the Australian market. Rising fuel costs has forced many Australian motorists to choose smaller engined vehicles recently and this has been the main cause of closure. The Mitsubishi large 380 saloon can [...]

The new Galant's wide, chrome-framed grille and smoother lines offer a more mature look that detractors will probably compare to the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu. The rear treatment fares somewhat better, with a wider rear window, expressive taillamps and a new trunklid. Galant Sport models get new 17-inch wheels.
As with the current Galant, a choice of four-cylinder or V6 power is available. There are two sixes this year; the [...]
First pictures of production Mitsubishi Sportback
Back in 2005 Mitsubishi rolled out a concept version of a Lancer hatchback and less than a year later officials revealed the car was headed for production. Since then nothing much has been seen or heard of the new Lancer hatchback or the original Sportback Concept. That was until these drawings of a near-production Lancer hatch turned up.
Though we’re not sure if these images are official they do appear to follow the same lines as the previous Sportback Concept vehicle. Unlike the concept, the images depict a car with production style bumpers and lights and conventional exhaust pipes.
The new model [...]
