Interview With The Owner And The Design Team Of Pininfarina Hyperion

Along with the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Gran Sport, the Pininfarina Hyperion cabriolet was one of the most hyped vehicles at this year’s Concours d’Elegance classic car show in California. The one-off custom built cabriolet is based on the Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe and was commissioned by Rolland Hall, a young and apparently very rich Brit. The guys from Garage419 went to Pebble Beach and interviewed Rolland Hall along with Paolo Garella, Lowie Vermeersch, and Jason Castriota of Pininfarina. Pininfarina Rolls-Royce Hyperion Officially Revealed

Pininfarina were challenged and commissioned by car collector Roland Hall to create a vehicle that would pay homage to the sumptuous cars of the 1930s, a challenge that is well within the grasp of the Italians specialists. Pininfarina have used their expertise to create special models in the past, some may remember the Ferrari P4/5 based on the Enzo or perhaps even the Scaglietti “K” springs to mind.

Pininfarina CEO Dies in Motorcycle Accident

The CEO of Italian design and contract manufacturer Pininfarina, Andrea Pininfarina, died Thursday morning in a motorcycle accident. Pininfarina, 51, died after his Vespa motorcycle collided with a car while he was riding over to the company’s design and r&d center in Cambiano.Giuliano Salmi, the 78-year-old driver of the car was taken to the hospital after suffering from shock. Pininfarina, the family controlled company, is currently in the middle of a crucial restructuring. News of Adrea’s death heated up market speculation that its ownership could quickly change.

Pininfarina Plans Indian Research, Design and Engineering Center

Pininfarina has its roots firmly planted in European, and mostly Italian, design work but is not afraid to look outside the Euro-zone for opportunities. This was proven by three manufacturers at last weeks 2008 Auto China show in Beijing, Chery, JAC and Brilliance. Surely not all design we as sporty as the new Maserati Gran Turismo S, also by Pinifarina's hand, but they all serve their purpose.

Pininfarina cant wait to wow us all at Geneva with this concept vehicle called the Sintesi. What Sintesi stands for as a concept is freedom of expression, freedom of movement inside a car, and freedom of the car itself within the context of exterior design.

Born of the idea that the shape of a cover is not a cover for the mechanicals, but rather the car gives shape to the mechanicals around the passengers, Sintesi follows a philosophy called Liquid Packaging. You can picture it in your mind what types of images follow anything shaped around liquidity of form.

Pininfarina Sintesi Concept first sketch revealed

Pininfarina has released the first sketch of the new Sintesi, its first concept car since the Birdcage 75th, presented in the 2005 edition of the Geneva Motor Show. Due to be first shown to the public in March, also at the Geneva event, the Sintesi has been given a website of its own,  www.sintesi.pininfarina.com , only to tease visitors about what the Italian ?azienda? has prepared this time. Pininfarina Sintesi Concept to Debut in Geneva

Pininfarina has announced the unveiling of a new concept at the Geneva Motor Show in early March, 2008. Not since the Birdcage 75th Concept (pictured above), which debuted three years ago, has Pininfarina displayed a prototype anticipating future design trends as well as new technologies in the areas of mobility, active safety and packaging solutions. Named “Sinesi”, the prototype which in typical Pininfarina style, focuses on “beauty driven by functionality, of sportiness and elegance”.
