Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid Not Entertaining Enough
It’s nice to see that even SUVs can adopt hybrid technology though we still doubt they will be the cars to save the world should that necessity ever present itself. Tellingly, though, the Cayenne S Hybrid is the first Porsche to get the petrol-electric drivetrain but given the verdict, we’re slightly suspicious that Porsche wasn’t serious enough about producing good hybrid technology on this one.
While the Cayenne S Hybrid is fast, it’s not exciting to drive [...]
Porsche 911 Carrera 4S vs Cayenne Turbo on track video
A sports coupe with the upmost pedigree and its ‘expanding-line-up-with-new-SUV’ brother might not seem like the track partners best suited to each other. But Autocar wanted to find out whether the Porsche Cayenne Turbo could go the distance with the Porsche 911 Carrrera 4S [...]
Hyundai challenges Mini at Road Atlanta, wants to step in for Porsche
Mini USA is looking for a race – more specifically they’re looking for a race with Porsche. However, Porsche has respectfully declined Mini’s challenge to race a Porsche 911 Carrera S against a Mini Cooper S, simply because the Stuttgart automaker believes its not worth their time.
Well, Hyundai is now looking to step in for Porsche and has challenged Mini to take on the Genesis Coupe [...]
The world's slowest Porsche - Ferdinand GT3 RS
Here is a video showing the new Ferdinand GT3 RS, a zero-emissions car named after the legendary Porsche founder. Unfortunately the car has nothing to do with Porsche, other than being shaped like a 911.
It features a "gold-painted" exterior, has a big rear wing and "massive air inlets at the front spoiler to save the driver from sweating too much." Amazingly it weighs just 99.6kg (219.6 lbs) [...]
New Porsche Cayenne TV commercial

2012 Porsche Boxster Spied During Winter Testing
Porsche engineers were caught on film recently testing the next generation of the Boxster roadster that is due to be revealed at a major international motor show sometime next year.
Just like the upcoming successor to today's 911 (see the spy shots here), the Boxster prototype looks no different from the current model, but that shouldn't come to as a surprise to Porschephiles that are used to the company's evolutionary approach to design.
The new Boxster will share many parts with the next 911 while the German engineers will most likely try to further reduce the car's weight to improve handling as well as to boost fuel efficiency.
The engine line-up and transmissions including a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual clutch PDK will be carried over with minor changes from the current model.
There have been rumors circulating around the net that Porsche may also introduce a smaller displacement yet powerful four-cylinder engine, however, this has not been confirmed.
Sales of the next generation Boxster will most likely start towards the end of 2011 or early 2012.

Porsche highlights Intelligent Performance of 918 Spyder, 911 GT3 R Hybrid
No doubt about it, the Porsche 918 Sypder was both one of the biggest surprises of the Geneva Motor Show and one of its most memorable vehicles. No surprise, then, that the German automaker has signaled its desire to put the hybrid sportscar into production.
Speaking of which, Porsche is once again hinting at its production goals for the 918 Spyder with a latest advertising campaign, calling the sportscar "The future of motorsport and series production." Doesn't get much more straightforward than that, eh? To go along with the new round of marketing, Porsche has released a new video that offers a bit more information about its showstopper, which you can find after the break.
In addition, there's a second video highlighting Porsche's new 911 GT3 R Hybrid, which managed an impressive sixth-place finish in its racing debut last weekend [...]
Porsche 911 GT3 RS 40 year drive video
The historical video celebrates the life of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (RennSport), tracing a 40 year history. While we probably identify the first modern model of this kind as the Porsche 996 of 2003, the RS tradition actually started back in 1972 [...]

2012 Porsche 911 Coupe and Convertible Spied Winter Testing
orsche is continuing to work hard on the development of its next-generation 911 sports car that carries the internal code name '991'. Filmed here during cold weather testing in Sweden, the new 911 will be offered in both coupe and convertible forms and with a variety of powertrains.
The spy video suggest that the 2012 model year (for North American markets) 911 will be slightly longer and wider but with a lower roofline than the current model [...]
2011 Porsche Cayenne from all angles
When it comes to the Porsche Cayenne, it's safe to say that the Autoblog team has a love-hate relationship with Stuttgart's hulking SUV. The new Cayenne could win over the haters among us with a Biggest Loser-style 400-pound weight loss program, a new hybrid variant capable of going 97 mph using only electric power and the return of the 500 horsepower turbocharged 4.8-liter Turbo S [...]
2011 Porsche Panamera with Base V6 Engine is so Quiet...
By now, you already know what the new Porsche Panamera looks like. Even if you haven't had the chance to see Stuttgart's sports saloon in person, you've seen hundreds of photos and plenty of videos of the V8-powered "S" and "Turbo" variants.
So, what's the first thing you'd be interested in a video showing the new entry-level model with the VW Group-sourced 300HP 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine? Apparently, the answer to that question is what the V6 sounds like [...]
New Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid with Williams-Developed Energy Storage System
If you're wondering why we (or anybody else, for that matter) didn't note that the energy storage system used on Porsche's new 911 GT3 Hybrid racer was developed by Williams in our original post, that's because the Germans 'conveniently' forgot to mention it in their official press release...
Thankfully, Williams issued a separate release informing us about their collaboration with Porsche while the company also noted that the energy storage system was originally developed for use in Formula One by the AT&T Williams team (the KERS system), but now it is focusing on applying the technology in road vehicles through its Williams Hybrid Power subsidiary.
The firm's patented electromechanical composite flywheel system is an electric motor that can spin to speeds of up to 40,000 rpm, storing energy mechanically as rotation energy and then supplying it to the electric motor(s) that drive the wheels.
In essence, it replaces the battery pack found in conventional hybrid cars with obvious gains in space and weight savings. The system's weakness is that it cannot store large quantities of energy.
In the case of the 911 GT3 R Hybird racer, the system releases up to 120kW of electricity for short bursts of around 6-8 seconds after each charge process that can be used either for additional power or to increase fuel economy.
